Homeopathic Immunizations

To vax or not to vax . . .  This is the question I've been researching for the last year. I recently, last night, found a new element to this whole vaccination topic: Homeopathic Immunizations or Homeoprophylaxis (HP). Its been around for over 200 years and has been proven to be a safer alternative to traditional vaccination methods. So what exactly is it you ask? Well let me explain. All information below is from the wonderful resource Organic Life Love's site here.

Homeoprophylaxis is a highly dilute preparation from a disease product i.e. from the sputum of an individual with the disease, or in the case of influenzium (homeopathic version of the flu shot), the four viruses selected by the WHO for the annual flu vaccine.

It works by naturally strengthening the resistance of the individual instead of targeting the pathogen, bacteria, or virus that causes the epidemic disease.  For this reason pathogens can never develop a resistance to the prophylactics.

Homeopathic immunization protects those that traditional vaccines are unsuitable (such as those who have had adverse reactions to other vaccines, the malnourished, the sick and deblitated, the immune-compromised, the pregnant, those allergic to vaccine materials, and those on steroids.)

It is also highly effective for travelers that need specific disease prevention going into a particular area.

Comparing the differences between vaccines and homeopathic immunization

Vaccination

  • Material dose; live, attenuated or killed virus, bacteria, toxin, in crude dose
  • Adjuvants to stimulate allergic repsonse and other additives with the possibility of other viruses, human fetus tissue, and DNA, animal byproducts etc.
  • Preservatives such as thiomersal, formaldehyde etc.
  • Germ/adjuvants injected directly into the blood stream bypassing peripheral immune system
  • Multiple diseases given at once
  • Specific antibody production expected in immune systems that are too immature to produce antibodies (infants til 1-2 years of age)

Homeoprophylaxis

  • Energetic dose; substances are potentized/diluted to reduce material dose but retain memory of disease/pathogen
  • Nosodes are sourced from pure germ/viral culture or human discharge response to the  germ
  • No adjuvants, preservatives or contaminants
  • Administered orally with sugar pellets
  • Single disease at a time
  • From birth on general immune system functions are fully active and therefore responsive to general stimulation

Pediatric Bronchitis

Last week I was bombarded with feelings of inadequacy and rage wrapped up in a nice little box that sat on my chest for a week. Lil D had what her pediatrician called pediatric bronchitis. Now this is a child who was given the flu shot and is current on all her recommended vaccines, she is not enrolled in any daycare center... oh and she was breastfeed for 13 months, this was the catalyst for my anger. You can not tell me that the "preventative" medicines given to children do not inhibit their immune systems. It is mind-boggling to me how my child contracted a viral infection that had her gasping for air, trying so hard to breathe her abdomen was being sucked under her ribs when she tried to breathe in and out. Ummmph... she was so out of it that all she could so was cry "Mama...Mama" {tears}. It was a traumatic experience, one in which I pray never happens again.
Found a wonderful article to help me gain a better understanding of what the hell was going on here
In Kentucky, RSV is common from November through April, with most children having at least one version of it by age 2. In most cases, RSV lasts between one and two weeks. In rare cases, it can leave behind a more chronic cough that can mimic asthma. In most children, the symptoms are wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath and typically will not improve with asthma treatments.

Here are some quick facts about RSV/bronchiolitis:

It is caused by a number of viruses that infect the lungs and airways, typically in young children. It is the most common cause of pneumonia in children younger than 1.

• Symptoms typically develop 4 to 6 days after exposure, and children are contagious for one to three weeks. Because it’s a virus, antibiotics have no role in its treatment.

• Treatment involves supportive care including over-the-counter fever medicines, and in certain cases, medicines typically associated with asthma, including steroids and inhalers. There are no decongestants or cough medicines approved for children younger than 5.

• Symptoms typically last one to two weeks.

• Less than 2 percent of children require hospital stays. Of those, the vast majority are younger than 6 months.

• Bronchiolitis is rare in adults, and symptoms tend to be mild, but the elderly and chronically ill are at risk for complications and more severe infections.

During Treatment

To get a feeling of what Lil D was experiencing I held one end of a straw, leaving a tiny portion open, and blew into the open end. It made me emotional thinking of how she was suffering and we were unable to fix it.  A common viral infection my ass.

The Cost of Birth

Yesterday I received the Explanation of Benefits from my insurance company. Yeah I know such exciting news. Well it was for me because I lwanted to know the cost of labor. A whopping $21k was the final bill!! I wonder how much a home birth would be? This is the option I am exploring for baby number two.

Mommy and Lil' D Updates

Today Lil' D had her one month doctor's visit. The doctor said she was progressing well and breast milk is doing her good {She previously told me if she didn't see a weight gain she would recommend supplementing my milk with formula}. At birth Lil' D was 6 pounds, 2 ounces. At two weeks she was 7 pounds, and at 4 weeks she is 8 pounds 4 ounces. She is growing nice and round  . . . my Lil' Munch Munch.

The doctor and I discussed her immunization schedule for the next six months. I asked her to add an additional MMR vaccine in the schedule because of our travel to the Caribbean this November. Typically this vaccine is done after one year of age, so I had to request an additional one. My mother emailed me an article about traveling overseas with infants and the need for the supplemental shot {check it herehere, and here}.

Pretty good. I was on a high for about ten minutes then I got some unpleasant news. Well it was not really a surprise because I mentioned to D this weekend that I believe our baby had this "illness". Using the word "illness" is too harsh, so let's say "situation". From some where, possibly my orangutan tits, Lil' D developed thrush in her mouth. It's not a nasty looking case like I viewed on the internet. It's basically a white coating on her tongue. Each day for the past week when I wiped her gums and her tongue I noticed the white stuff on her tongue. I thought it was milk residue, but it would not disappear. I began to notice this last week, it didn't cause me too much stress because I knew we would be going to the doctor today and she was nursing without complications. The doctor prescribed Nystatin to be taken orally four times a day. So far Lil D has had two doses and already she has experienced stomach irritation... my poor Munch Munch. I googled thrush and found an excellent resource from Dr. Sears here.

All is well that ends well. My Munch is out of size "N" diapers and on to size "1". Yeah!
